45 minutes from New York City, the U.S. Open of Mountain Biking
provides up-and-coming athletes with a unique opportunity to compete
against the world's elite gravity athletes.
Each year nearly 500 athletes from across the globe make the pilgrimage
to Diablo Freeride Park to vie for over $50,000 in cash and prizes and
the opportunity to claim the coveted U.S. Open championship title.

Downhill Course, a new Dual Slalom discipline, a $50,000 cash and prize

100-percent of the three-minute Downhill race course is accessible by
hiking or access from a high-speed gondola is available (fee).

The U.S. Open will be my
first downhill mountain bike race, what is the action like?
Witness
athletes racing the clock down one of the most technical mountain bike
race courses in the country! Racers use state-of-the-art downhill
mountain bikes and navigate exciting terrain at unbelievable speeds.
Is there a fee to spectate at the U.S. Open?
No, there is no fee to
hike the U.S. Open racecourse, however, there is a small fee if you
wish to gain access to the gondola.
What
is the most popular spectator area on the U.S. Open racecourse?
Without question, the Toyota Rock
Garden
is the most exciting spectator vantage point. Witness racers tackling
the most technical section of the course in front of hundreds of
screaming fans! The Toyota
Rock Garden can be accessed by hiking (20minute uphill) or
a short walk down from the gondola summit.
I have
never been to a downhill mountain bike race, what type of attire is
recommended?
The U.S. Open racecourse is located on variable terrain and comfortable
hiking shoes are recommended along with suitable clothing for
changeable weather conditions.
Are
there any other activities available at the U.S. Open?
During the U.S. Open, Diablo Freeride Park is open to non-racing
mountain bikers and nearly 40 vendors and exhibitors will be on-hand
displaying cycling products and services.
